We offer standard and customised training, with flexibility to meet your needs

Introduction to QuickBooks

This set course training package is designed to give you the skills to set-up a basic QuickBooks accounting system and use if for your business.  Typical completion time for this program is around six hours in a small-group (up to five) setting, or a bit less in an one-on-one situations.  All QuickBooks features used in this course are included in the ‘Accounting’ level of the QuickBooks range.  No prior knowledge of QuickBooks is assumed, but it is helpful if you are familiar with working in a Windows environment.

General book-keeping tips
Setting up a new Company File from scratch
Using Tax Codes and Tax Items to track GST
Using Items
General journal entry
Cash purchases and sales
Credit purchases and sales
Reconciling your bank account
Basic reporting
Preparing your BAS using QuickBooks
Backing up and restoring your QuickBooks Company File

We travel with our own presentation equipment and training software, so can run this course anywhere that you have enough computers for groups of up to five.  All participants get to take home a detailed, step-by-step course workbook.

This training is charged at our standard QuickBooks consulting rates, but special prices can be arranged for community organisations.

Advanced QuickBooks Training

QuickBooks, particularly in its higher versions, offers many specialised functions – of which most businesses would only use some.  We therefore do not currently offer an ‘Advanced QuickBooks’ course as such.

Instead, we prefer to offer training tailored to your specific needs, based on the features that you currently use or which you could use to benefit your business.  This ensures that we cover what you need to know, but you don’t pay for training on topics you don’t need.
This training is charged at our standard QuickBooks consulting rates, and we are happy to give an estimate of the time that it may take to cover the topics you wish to work on.

Book-keeping Training

We do not currently offer a standard, one-size-fits-all book-keeping course, due to the variations that exist between businesses.  Our specialty is to help you set-up and use your QuickBooks system to:

Make your accounting workflow as efficient as possible;
Ensure that your BAS reporting is correct (for GST, PAYG withholdings and Fuel Tax Credits);
Be technically correct in from an accounting perspective; an
Enable your Tax Agent to prepare your Income Tax return with a minimum of effort (and hence, minimum cost to you).

We are equally happy to set-up your QuickBooks system correctly from the beginning, or to review your existing set-up and suggest improvements.

Quicken Training

We provide introductory training and set-up assistance with the excellent ‘Quicken’ range of personal finance packages.  This service is provided on an individual basis and is charged at our standard QuickBooks consulting rates.
